Investments for New York’s Future
Economic Impacts from the New York Clean Air Initiative
Jan 2026
This study models the economic benefits that New York would experience from the Clean Air Initiative over ten years. Under the study scenario, the program generates approximately $30 billion in revenue for investment, supporting 300,500 jobs and $47.5 billion in statewide economic growth. Households earning $200,000 or less per year, which comprise approximately 85% of New York’s population, are projected to realize $6.9 billion in cumulative net savings over ten years, corresponding to average net savings of $1,060 per household.
Additional scenario analysis finds that increasing program ambition yields substantially larger impacts. Under a more ambitious Clean Air Initiative, projected investment revenue, employment, economic output, and household net benefits more than double relative to the primary study scenario.
