About Greenline Insights

Greenline Insights is a non-partisan, analytically driven research firm empowering smart decision-making in climate, energy, and public policy. We specialize in modeling, analysis, and policy design to help local workforces, businesses, and communities thrive. Our interdisciplinary work spans economics, energy, public health, infrastructure, industry, and innovation — and is rooted in clarity, rigor, and action. We pride ourselves on translating complex research into policy-relevant insights that drive real-world impact, from detailed reports and testimony to stakeholder engagement and modeling tools.

Our Values

We value curiosity, intellectual rigor, proactivity, and mission-driven care. As a research-focused team, we believe clarity — in thinking, methods, and communication — is essential for impactful work.

We look for teammates who bring good energy, analytical grit, and a commitment to problem-solving. We thrive with colleagues who enjoy tackling complexity, asking sharp questions, building structure where none exists, and working collaboratively to generate high-quality, actionable research.

Role Summary

We're seeking a Research Manager/Senior Manager to lead complex research and consulting projects at the intersection of energy, economics, and public policy. This role combines analytical leadership with project management, requiring someone who enjoys diving into unfamiliar technical problems, developing rigorous analytical approaches, and guiding projects from concept through delivery.

Managers at Greenline are both builders and leaders. They develop analytical frameworks, shape research methodologies, synthesize complex information into clear insights, and oversee project execution. They serve as trusted partners to clients, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and help ensure our work is technically rigorous, strategically relevant, and delivered on time.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys learning new subject matter quickly, tackling ambiguous challenges, and translating complex technical work into actionable insights. Success requires equal comfort building the analysis, leading the project team, and collaborating with clients, while contributing to the growth of Greenline's capabilities and research portfolio.

Success in this role looks like:

  • Clients trust you to lead projects, communicate clearly, and navigate complex analytical challenges with confidence.

  • You develop rigorous and creative analytical approaches that produce high-quality, decision-relevant insights.

  • Projects run smoothly, with clear priorities, proactive communication, and on-time delivery.

  • Deliverables are technically sound, well organized, and strategically framed.

  • Analysts on your team feel supported, challenged, and equipped to grow through clear guidance and thoughtful feedback.

  • You identify opportunities to strengthen Greenline's methodologies, internal tools, workflows, and research capabilities.

  • You contribute to proposal development, new client relationships, and repeat engagements that support the firm's continued growth.

Core Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead complex research and consulting projects from scoping through delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes and effective project coordination.

  • Design and lead analytical approaches in partnership with senior staff, developing rigorous methodologies tailored to each project's objectives.

  • Conduct and oversee quantitative analysis, modeling, and research across energy, economic, and policy topics.

  • Review and synthesize analytical outputs into clear, well-structured, client-ready deliverables.

  • Translate technical findings into compelling narratives, visualizations, and recommendations.

  • Identify project risks, analytical challenges, and resource needs early, and proactively develop solutions.

  • Develop methodologies, tools, and workflows that improve the quality, efficiency, and scalability of Greenline's work.

Client Management

  • Serve as the primary or co-lead point of contact for assigned projects and workstreams.

  • Lead client meetings, communicate project progress, and provide clear guidance on decisions and next steps.

  • Respond to client questions thoughtfully and independently, bringing sound judgment and technical credibility.

  • Build trusted client relationships by identifying opportunities to add value and deepen partnerships.

Team Coordination & Development

  • Manage and mentor junior team members by setting clear expectations, delegating work effectively, and supporting their professional growth.

  • Provide thoughtful feedback that strengthens teammates' technical, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Onboard and mentor new team members by modeling high-quality research, collaboration, and documentation.

  • Partner with senior staff on proposal development, project scoping, and budgeting.

Internal Leadership & Firm Growth

  • Contribute to internal documentation, playbooks, templates, and process improvements that strengthen team effectiveness.

  • Help develop new methodologies, analytical capabilities, and research tools that expand Greenline's expertise.

  • Foster a collaborative, intellectually curious culture grounded in clarity, rigor, and continuous learning.
